So much like Netflix, Amazon, iTunes, etc. disrupting Blockbuster or “some new tech thing wrecked the market of some old thing”, it is true that disruption is key. But do not forget that there is usually some middleman or “middle step” that is removed.

…most successful companies “disrupt adjacencies”: they leverage their existing assets to expand into new, high growth markets. They actually disrupt someone else!
